SUMMARY:A Comprehensive Approach to Child Abuse Prevention in Schools
DESCRIPTION:Target Audience:      \nRisk Managers\, Risk Management Staff\, CBO’s\, HR/Personnel Staff \nTrainer:      \nReshan Cooray\, ASCIP’s Director of Risk Services \nLaurel Bear\, Director of Student Svcs./Gateway to Success at Alhambra USD \n  \nHow to Register: \nEmail Kimberly Kennedy at kennedy@ascip.org by March 31st. \n  \nThe prevalence of physical and sexual abuse and molestation are occurring too often within schools. Implementing policies and providing mandated reporter training to staff are simply not enough. It is vital that districts create a culture to prevent such incidents through a comprehensive approach which includes a district’s governing board\, administrators\, staff\, parents and students. Child abuse prevention needs to begin with understanding the prevalence of this issue both nationally and at a state level\, identifying victims and the abusers and finally implementing prevention strategies. Districts cannot afford to ignore this problem from either a moral\, ethical or financial perspective. One abused student is one too many. \n  \nAs always\, there is no charge to ASCIP members or our invited guests to attend this training.
