SUMMARY:Claims\, Lawsuits\, Subpoenas & Summons-Accept\, Reject\, Provide Notice or Do Nothing
DESCRIPTION:When a claim is brought against a school district\, one must be especially attentive to the claim presentation procedures and timing requirements under the Government Code.  This seminar will assist districts with the strict time requirements a claimant must adhere to when presenting a claim and the different responses a district can have when a claim is brought against them.  The seminar will also provide an overview of the civil litigation process with examples from real cases and a discussion of legal trends impacting districts.  Attendees will gain an understanding of the Claim Presentation statute and knowledge of the litigation process by learning how the submission and response to claims impact the resolution\, defense and adjudication of lawsuits through trial.
